Juan diego Catholic high school
Juan Diego Catholic High School is a Catholic, co-educational secondary, diocesan school under the direction of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Salt Lake. Dedicated in the fall of 1999, Juan Diego is fully accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and the Western Catholic Education Association. The senior class of 2013 will be our twelfth graduating class in what is to become a long tradition of graduating students of faith and integrity.
Juan Diego Catholic High School exists to teach and promote gospel values to all members of this community of faith, with a special emphasis on Spiritus Donorum (Spirit of Giving).
Governance
Juan Diego operates under the direction of the Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools since 1999. The school undergoes a full accreditation process by the Western Catholic Education Association every six years. The Diocesan Catholic Schools Superintendent oversees compliance with the rigorous standards and requirements of the State of Utah, the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) and the Utah Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (UASCD).
Student Body
Enrollment is approximately 800, grades 9-12, with an estimated capacity of 1000. The ethnic/racial background of the student population includes 66% Caucasian, 15% Hispanic, 2% Asian, 3% African American, 2% Pacific-Island, 2% Native American, and 4% other. 5% of our students are international. Approximately 70% are Catholic. Virtually every socio-economic level is represented.
Community
Juan Diego has 65 administration and faculty members on staff in which 63 Bachelor degrees, 43 Master’s degrees and 7 Doctoral degrees are represented. Parent leadership and involvement are key to the school’s success. The JD Parent Volunteer Initiative promotes and facilitates communication among students, families, faculty, staff, and administration, so that everyone can be involved.Juan Diego’s many activities, clubs and teams. Parents are required to volunteer a minimum of 25 hours in support of operations and various activities. The Juan Diego Board oversees finances, facilities and resource generation. Juan Diego enjoys a collaborative relationship with local churches, businesses and Draper City government, ensuring a strong, safe, reverent institution of excellence.
